Negative Spaces is my attempt to achieve something unique with photographing the body by framing the subjects in ways which emphasize lines and shapes with a minimalist and abstract approach. The resulting ambiguity of the images invites the viewers to participate by analyzing their perceptions and constructing their own version of the story being presented. The strong presence of empty/negative space is intentional to accentuate the importance of this element in the composition. I chose black negative space to maximize the contrast between foreground and background. The negative space is indispensable in that it serves to clearly demarcate the limits of the subject. In some cases this black space is rather more prominent than the actual subject being photographed, and it can be argued that it is the negative space rather than the actual figure that is the focus the photograph.
